How to decorate the wall?

Among the many ways of decorating residential premises, decorative picturesque mosaic occupies an important place. The use of mosaics is known for more than 2000 years, a great way to make the interior beautiful and unique. Traditionally, glass, ceramic tiles or natural stone are used as the starting material for making mosaics, sometimes these materials are combined. What can you say about a tree? Despite the fact that wood is perhaps the most ancient and traditional material for decoration, the use of wood in the form of a mosaic is a modern and original type of wall decoration.

Historically, there are 3 types of mosaic wood finishes made of wood:

Marquetry.

The term comes from the French word marquer, which means to mark, draw. Marquetry is an ancient kind of arts and crafts. The pattern or image is made from curly small pieces of veneer with a thickness of 0.5-1 mm, different in color, wood texture. Such a structure is ground, polished and coated with varnish or other protective composition. The result is a decorated flat surface. As a rule, furniture and interior items were decorated in this way.

Intarsia:

This is a kind of inlay, a technique for decorating a surface, in which one material deepens, cuts into the thickness of another. Thus, as well as in the case of using the marquetry technique, a certain image or ornament is created.

We also single out another simple way - the use of end saw cuts of a tree, which can be round (conditionally “from stumps”, as a rule, the shape of a tree trunk is preserved) or rectangular. A pattern was not created with this option, but due to the natural beauty of the end cuts, a rather spectacular surface was obtained.

The 4th option is a fairly new and modern way - 3D mosaic:

In this case, we can talk about the use of the intarsia technique, on the one hand, since the elements of the mosaic deepen relative to each other, but at the same time there is no goal to create a pattern or any particular ornament on the surface. First of all, the natural beauty of wood and the resulting textured surface are used. Depending on the chosen structure, you can achieve different effects depending on your task.

Wooden 3D mosaic is a great opportunity to go beyond the established patterns and, at the same time, to get an actual and modern individual interior, which can become a brilliant reflection of the perception of the world and harmony in the room.
